Signposted For a Dollar = eBay Cash!!!

Every weekend paper invites a retired friend of mine to embrace the brisk 0700am air, driving in response to a backlit programmed Tom Tom to the open gates and lawns of neighbouring families with their history of domestic material possessions sprawled and signposted for a dollar or two.
My friend loves the conversations and genuine connect that people provide, stories behind items that surface when asking to buy the once treasured possession, but mostly the extreme value available door after door. People’s preference to downsize with little effort allows compromise and leeway that benefits the punter with loose change in hand and the foresight to identify a return on investment. Some items need a clean and others are still in their original box, my friend makes between $150 to $250 profit each week for a morning of browsing, buying, preparing and presenting on eBay to the world with postage done in an afternoon.
Her items of interests include books, boxes of magazines, toys, potential antiques (she found a heavy mantelpiece clock bought for $20 and sold for $280) and general branded items (like a U2 poster or a Ferrari Mug).
I know there are bigger money opportunities to be made from eBay but sharing this lateral approach to supplementary income for a retiree is relevant for anyone who’s interest in creating a lateral income is more so based in the pace of life, the journey rather than the destination and the conversations along the way.
